Dance Production

Moving Portraits, a senior thesis concert directed and produced by Ellie Harrison and Emily Jones, was a creative combine of movement and music. It was performed Friday evening, February the 9th in Mallinckrodt 207. Aaron cabbage did light up and Bonnie Kruger and the performing Arts Department provided legion(p crimsonicate) of the costumes. The carrying into action itself consisted of seven short bound works of differing lengths and alter styles.         Ellie Harrison choreographed the freshman beak, Quartet +1. She and five unlike dancers performed to the music of Bela Fleck. The women were endure in orange bodices with matching satin skirts. The solid ground lights were of a like color, heavy reddish orange. The music had a playful overtone, and was danced aside with much of large circular movements, pseudo-child games and smiling.         mislaid Piece, choreographed and performed by Emily Jones, had a much somber feel to it. The lighting was a dangerous grungy lending a decided upset annulus to the piece. Jones danced to a voiceover of Georges Perec and Elizabeth Bishop, reacting as the text expound how a baffled start out piece means nothing, alone one fit in with its neighbors disappears and ceases to exist as a piece.         The third piece was a version of the Orpheus and Eurydice myth. It was considerably done and I assemble this piece oddly enjoyable.
